Sprint's 4G LTE devices is that they support the use of SIM cards, and some Sprint devices have their SIM cards unlocked. If you break or lose your device, for example, you're probably going to have to have a headache getting a new one to use because there's a chance you'll have to pay full retail price for the device (unless you have insurance or some other deal worked out). On Sprint, your phone has to be compatible with the carrier's network. To this day, you can't just go out and buy an unlocked device and expect to use it immediately on Sprint, if at all. With Sprint you have the inability to easily swap phones on Sprint's CDMA network. The majority of the rest of the world was using GSM technology, and the countries and regions that used CDMA weren't always compatible with Sprint's devices. Sprint phones are not great for traveling abroad. And this only applies if your phone is GSM compatible. They have to be marked unlocked in the Sprint database and once that has been done you should change your network settings from CDMA to GSM. The Sprint network unlock method is different from most carriers as they do not use the typical 8 digit unlock code. If you are interested in this service you can contact us. And this too is only possible for some handsets. Besides these models specified on this page below all other models would require rooting the device and updating the modem firmware and ROM to get it to work. We have a software that does support limited Sprint Samsung models, which can be unlocked easily without the need to root or tamper with the device. There are also some Samsung models and android models which can be "made to work" with GSM networks however it is not a simple process. If it is at all possible, Sprint would need to register the IMEI or MEID number in their system first before the phone can work To use your Sprint iPhone on another CDMA Network like Verizon in the USA, you are advised to Contact Sprint to ask them on a case to case basis. Because of the technology limitations with CDMA devices, with the exception of the Sprint iPhone which has GSM capabilities by default, and can easily be unlocked and used on GSM networks. In short, it is not possible to unlock most Sprint phones to use on other carriers.

You can make a preset for those settings and then apply them during import. For example, perhaps you have global adjustments you wish to apply to all of your night images. In that case, I want the presets to easily go between the computers. The only time I would entertain checking this box is if I am regularly using my catalog on two or more computers. If I ever need access to my presets, they are easy to locate by going to Preferences in the main menu and clicking the “Show Lightroom Develop Presets” and “Show All Other Lightroom Presets” buttons. For the majority of situations, I recommend that users do NOT check that box. If you have taken the Let’s Get Organized in Lightroom Course or read my article on Where to Store Your Lightroom Catalog, you know that I advocate always using one Lightroom catalog for ALL of your images.None of your already existing presets will move, so you will have to do that manually. The first is that once you check the box only new presets will be saved with the catalog. However, there are a few nuances that come with checking this box. For example, if you use a laptop and a desktop computer, then you might store your Lightroom catalog and photos on an external hard drive to easily go between the two computers. However, there are a few consequences to that action.Īs mentioned above, there is an option in lightroom to check a box to “store presets with this catalog.” The only potential advantage to checking this box is that it can be easier if you use your Lightroom catalog across more than one computer. The team quickly learns that they Collectors share a similar "quad-strand genetic structure" previously exhibited by only one other species to inhabit Citadel Space: the Protheans. While exploring the ship, the Normandy's new AI system, EDI, will begin analyzing the interior and exterior of the environment. The Illusive Man will eventually contact Shepard a few main missions into the game and send them to a "derelict" Collector ship. In Mass Effect 2, Shepard and the Normandy crew discover exactly why this is. The Collectors operate like a collection of unthinking, unfeeling drones piloted by a single central hub of consciousness. It's later revealed that the Collectors attempted to purchase Shepard's body-an endeavor stopped by Dr. During Shepard's two-year absence and revival thanks to Cerberus and the Lazarus Project, the Collectors begin to target and "collect" human colonists. This mod does work with columnFive's excellent Nearly Unrestricted Weapons for LE2. Depending on Shepard's class the choice still potentially results in acquiring a new weapon, so players should keep this in mind. When the player gets to the Collector Ship mission and accesses the terminal that reveals the true nature of the collectors the player is still asked to make a choice of bonus weapon/training. Once a player has boarded the Normandy, they can choose the weapons using the loadout locker or when selecting weapons before a mission. Unfortunately, players don't get to choose weapon loadouts until they board the Normandy SR2. The weapons technically become available as soon as you pick up the grenade launcher. This mod makes the special weapons in LE2, (Claymore, Revenant, and Widow), available to Shepard and squadmates capable of using the weapons' classes after the Freedom's Progress mission. Any ideas, tasks, or requests that come up should be taken note of to come back to later. The pomodoro is an indivisible unit of time and can not be broken, especially not to check incoming emails, team chats, or text messages. For example, "write rent check," "set vet appointment," and "read Pomodoro article" could go together in one session. Any tasks that will take less than one Pomodoro should be combined with other simple tasks. Sticking to this rule will help ensure you make clear progress on your projects. If a task requires more than four pomodoros, it needs to be divided into smaller, actionable steps. It does have options to create high contrast and artistic photos, but I feel the results are simply not that great. The only thing that HDR Express has a hard time doing, and this is a personal preference, is dynamic images. I’ll tell you… that extra process button really annoys me for some reason. HDR Express is the only HDR software, so far, that allows me to save my image without having to click a process image button first. This allows me to save my final HDR image. This is a very handy tool that I find very helpful to see where my exposure should intersect.Īfter I finish tone mapping I simply press the save button. I can also replay this by clicking a play button. At first I thought the program was freaking out, but I then realized that this was an added function allowing me to see the entire range of light available. The tone mapping options available are basic but enough to produce a very attractive image.Īnother thing I noticed when HDR Express first opens the tone mapping window, the preview image gradually shifts from under exposure to over exposure. When HDR Express finishes merging the exposures I am taken automatically to the tone mapping window, allowing me to immediately tone map my HDR photo. Most likely it has that built-in, as I don’t see noise being an issue in any of the HDR images created using HDR Express. The only thing missing from this window is a denoise option. There is a check box to align the images and three ghosting options to choose from. Once I have my exposures loaded there are two merging options available. It lets me know that a developer is either using their own software or listening to people’s opinions. This is a great feature, because sometimes I have JPG and RAW exposures in the same directory. This option lets me see only JPG files or RAW files. Something I found very useful in the browsing window for loading exposures into HDR Express is the ability to pick JPG separate from RAW. You can load images by dragging and dropping it into this window or you can click the plus symbol. This will pop open the Merge to HDR window which will allow you to load your exposures. To create an HDR image in HDR Express all you need to do is click the Create/Merge A New HDR Image… button. Not only is it fast but it’s intuitive and straight to the point, so creating an HDR photo is quick and easy compared to all the other programs that I’ve tested so far. But with the release of HDR Express, Unified color has remedied that problem, developing the fastest HDR program that I’ve used yet. I remember when Unified Color released their first HDR application, that one was slower than dirt. It’s simple enough for a beginner to understand but advance in a way that allows a professional to produce very beautiful and natural HDR photos. HDR Express, really means express… this is the first HDR software that I felt got me creating HDRs with little effort. I really do enjoy using the tone mapping features in this program. I wish it was capable of producing my type of dynamic images, but I guess I can’t have it all. HDR Express is my newest favorite HDR application for creating natural images. It’s fast, the tone mapping is easy and results are excellent… in regards to natural looking images. HDR Express is by far the best HDR program that I’ve tested. Unless of course more high dynamic range programs are suggested. This marks the halfway point to my HDR software review process. Posted Ma– HDR Express by Unified Color is the seventh HDR software to be tested and reviewed by Captain Kimo. His first meeting with Walker at TEC headquarters is a deliciously veiled verbal sparring-match between a law-enforcement officer who knows he’s got his man right in front of him, and a bad guy daring him to make his move in front his superiors. Ron Silver all but steals the film with his performance as the conniving Senator McComb, played by Silver as the quintessential slimy politician, and an extremely potty-mouthed one, at that (he single-handedly drops about ninety-percent of the f-bombs in the film). I, for one, am not about to lose any more sleep thinking over the time paradoxes of the birth of John Connor any more than I am the time-travelling machinations of Senator Aaron McComb, so as with any time-travel movie, it’s best to just sit back and enjoy the ride with “Timecop”.Ĭan you do this Nice shot Some altered matter “Timecop” not only involves far more zig-zagging from the past to present and vice-versa, but also just as intimately plays with the idea of the present as we know it already being the result of changes to the past, with said changes being even more complicated by further trips to the past. Indeed, thinking about the logical implications of time-travel raised by “Timecop” is arguably even more paradoxical and intellectually maddening than those raised by Skynet. While the origins of “Timecop” stem from its limited-run Dark Horse comic book series, the film, arriving just three years after “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, bears a pretty clear James Cameron influence, as well. With his new partner, Agent Sarah Fielding, Walker heads back to 1994 to put a stop to McComb’s time-travelling heist, and before long, uncovers the dark truth behind his late wife’s murder. Timecop to the time machine Happy times Mind your headĪfter busting his former partner, Lyle Atwood, for travelling back to launder money in 1929, Walker learns that Atwood was working for Senator Aaron McComb, who has been financing his Presidential campaign by sending associates back in time to steal money. police officer Max Walker now works as a TEC agent, with his dedication to the organization’s mission stopping him from going back to 1994 to prevent the murder of his wife, Melissa. Fast forward to 2004, and former Washington D.C. In the year 1994, the development of time-travel leads to the formation of the Time Enforcement Commission, with the aim of preventing illicit time-travellers from altering the past and potentially unleashing cataclysmic consequences in the future. Scott Bellis also appears as TEC’s tech support man, Ricky, while Jason Schombing plays Walker’s former partner, Lyle Atwood, who becomes a somewhat reluctant lackey of McComb’s. Bruce McGill plays Walker’s TEC superior, Commander Eugene Matuzak, while Gloria Reuben plays Walker’s fellow TEC Agent, Sarah Fielding. Mia Sara portrays Walker’s wife Melissa, who through the miracle of time-travel is a strong presence in the film despite being murdered in the opening reel. Jean-Claude Van Damme steps into the role of Agent Max Walker of the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC), who finds himself hotly pursuing United States Senator and Rogue Presidential candidate Aaron McComb, played by the late Ron Silver. They are repped by ICM Partners and Jackoway Tyerman.Īlexandra Loewy is overseeing development for Global Produce and executive vp production Jon Mone will oversee the project for Universal. So, 2004 came and went, and we’re still waiting for time-travel to become a reality some fourteen years later? It would seem that, like “Back to the Future Part II”, “Timecop” made us a lot of empty promises about what the future had in store for mankind! Joking aside, now a rather nitpick-able vision of the future notwithstanding, 1994’s “Timecop” is an enthralling, “Terminator”-esque sci-fi action thriller anchored by the directorial talents of Peter Hyams and the charisma of its leading man. The Gunn cousins are working on a third Journey movie for New Line, a MacGyver feature film as well as a remake of The Monster Squad, which is in development at Paramount. Tonally it could end up sharing a similar sensibility to Looper, Rian Johnson’s time travel movie, but would be bigger in scope and ambition. The first movie had the sci-fi elements very much in the foreground however, this version of Timecop is a more gritty and grounded police story with the sci-fi in the background, though it will still have the main character on a personal journey. One officer (Van Damme) runs into a crooked politician (played by Ron Silver), who uses time travel to further his political career. Timecop, a Universal library title, was set in the near future where time travel is regulated by a police force. I really propose playing any version at least once though! It's a good (and challenging) game in its own right. And since my complete save file couldnt be ported to the psp version, I made a script that basically levels a job within 2 to 3 hours for that version. I think I lot of fans gloss over I, II, and III (and sometimes V) because they don't have the same flair as the rest. PSP version is the best version of the game. FFIII is actually one of my favourites because of its mechanics alone.īut if you're looking for a game with a gripping story then it's fine to skip it. It won't have the characterizations of the four heroes introduced in the remakes, but the central plot is still there. However, if you're not terribly frightened with the idea of playing an NES game I suggest playing that version with the English patch. Now I've never gotten far enough in the DS version to know if the game's been vastly improved story-wise or in any other area so I can't speak for it. Bred from a long line of ‘ more or less faceless neotenic grotesques‘, such as Crockett Johnson’s Barnaby or Walter Berndt’s Smitty, Levi is an infant trying to make sense of the world around him through philosophical musings, an occasional break through the fourth wall, and conversations with his feline companion, Cat. As per his name, he’s more than a little bit of a megalomaniac – as one can argue that all children are. Though I have no such desire to rub elbows with the faceless, introspective Leviathan, his perambulations are great fun to watch. Who wouldn’t love to hang out with Sugar and Spike, or Cul de Sac’s Alice, or Daniel Pinkwater’s Robert Nifkin? Some authors’ worlds are so compelling that one wishes to be teleported into them. However, I enthusiastically dig through children’s books when given half a chance, and greatly enjoy comics about ankle biters of the ‘wise far beyond their years’ variety. I am fairly neutral about children, and prefer to stay away from them for the most part (although there are some pleasant exceptions to this rule). « Babies of course are not human - they are animals, and have a very ancient and ramified culture, as cats have, and fishes, and even snakes: the same in kind as these, but much more complicated and vivid, since babies are, after all, one of the most developed species of the lower vertebrates. One possible configuration of the resultant energy flows is illustrated in the figure below. Solar PV panels turn sunlight directly into electricity, whilst the wind or flowing water spin turbines which drive generators. All these sources of energy available in our environment are harnessed by turning them directly into electricity. The energy flows around an economy powered by wind, solar, hydro will look very different from one powered by fossil fuels. But what if we were to power that same economy with renewable resources? An Example of Energy Flows in an Economy Powered by Renewable Energy This presents a simplified overview of how fossil fuel energy flows through an economy. As a result, much of the original energy is wasted. However, as we have discussed before in another blog, the conversion of heat to electricity is an inefficient process. What is important to note is that fossil fuels can only be burnt to release their energy as heat and in order to heat for other applications that heat must be converted into other forms of energy. For example, the processing of industrial chemicals and materials, as well as fossil fuels themselves, require enormous amounts of heat. The figure above shows how the energy contained within fossil fuels is distributed to energy intensive sectors of the economy: industrial chemicals and materials, transportation, manufacturing and property (commercial and domestic).Įach of these sectors require large amounts of energy to operate but not necessarily in the same form. To illustrate this further, the figure below shows a simplified model of how energy flows through an economy powered by fossil fuels. Due to this on-demand energy, humanity developed new technologies and ways of life at a phenomenal rate, making each decade unique and technologically distinct from the one before.įossil fuels are so deeply embedded in our economy that fundamental change will be required if we are going to transition to an economy powered by renewable energy. First on the scene was coal, followed by oil, and finally natural gas, each with energy locked away inside them ready to be used at our beck and call. 31st January 2020, Richard Howard, since the First Industrial Revolution, fossil fuels have been the bedrock of developed and developing economies. |
